Sinclair Lewis

One of our American Nobel Prize winners but I wonder how much he's read today out of Amer Lit classes. At any rate, he's the subject of Wednesday's Today In Literature. The memoir by his first wife sounds fascinating. I'm getting it through Orbis, the wonderful inter-college loan service.

My favorite Lewis has been Elmer Gantry but I haven't read all his novels. So much to read, so little time -- and that's just considering dead authors! Currently I'm reading the 1948 novel about the black G.I. experience in Berlin and thinking, This would make such a good film.
