Maupassant progress

An exciting note from John Nugent, the wonderful composer I work with, that he's almost done with the draft of the first of three short chamber opera pieces based on Maupassant short stories. The first is "The Love of Long Ago."

LOVER & GRANDMOTHER
Love is the only good thing in life
As fleeting a thing as love can be
It burns like a flame – and goes out the same
Something to cherish as long as you can

Love is the only good thing in life
It comes like a storm and leaves like a hawk
That carries away your heart and your soul
Love is the only good thing in life

Here is the libretto.

It's always a real high to hear how John has applied his musical magic to the words.
