I agree with some of this:

When Jimmy is executed, Jenny is presented with a folded-up flag, which is evidently meant to remind us of Iraq; as with the Hitler salute, it feels gratuitous. Brecht’s instruction in the libretto cannot be bettered: a ragged procession of protesters, carrying contradictory placards, staggering toward the audience, a mirror image of our own political confusion.
