deLay's health

Someone in a position to know writes concerning my speculation that doctors should have caught the leukemia earlier. Paul, he writes...

...had first rate care and doctors, that his other obvious health issues had no connection to the disease that took him out, and that this pernicious form of leukemia likely could not have been stopped even if it had been detected early. If it had been detected early he would have spent the last year on the sidelines undergoing a bunch of invasive 'treatments' and procedures that from what I'm told would have likely had no effect on the outcome. He would have missed some special gigs on the beach of Playa del Carmen south of Cancun, where two weeks ago today we were helping to raise funds to send sick Mayan kids to the US for heart surgeries. The parents of those kids embraced him like a visiting saint. He was deeply moved by it all.

The cure could have been worse than the disease. The big man went out with his boots on and his chops in gear. No one can ask for more than this.
