Watched Babel and like it a lot, though its flirtation with self-indulgence keeps it from being a "great" movie for me and also makes it too long. But a variety of narratives are engagingly interwoven and the film is filled with powerful moments. This film is the equivalent of Reggie Bush running brilliantly for a touchdown and then making an ass of himself by mocking a defender chasing him: greatness has to know when to shut up. Now and again, this film doesn't.
