Old fogey
So I'm off on an errand, feeling blessed as I always do when out on an errand of pleasure, in this case to get bagels and shmears, listening to jazz on the radio, feeling great, when I have a memory flash from last night when I found the Grammy's while channel surfing and instantly felt like an old fogey. Pop music does that to me. I despise almost all of it. Indeed, the last "selling" musical artist to excite me were the Beatles! I don't hear much pop music, so maybe I short change it -- I listen to jazz and classical on the radio, period. I don't like hip-hop even though it's a derivative of talking blues, which I used to write and perform. 99% of the music I listen to was written before 1960, maybe even earlier, and that's just fine with me. But I admit it does make me something of an old fogey. I don't mind. After all, I'm writing a modern chamber opera ha ha. Ah, life is full of contradictions.
