McCain is on a run. Not only is the storm making him look better than the normal convention would have, the VP's pregnant daughter is solidifying his support as well -- because she's having the kid. No abortion for her! As for "family values" and all that, well, life happens. What's important is not to have an abortion. Q.E.D.
I'm not sure there's anything that can happen in this campaign that will change any party supporter's mind about anything. There is no connection between evidence and conclusion in the political marketplace. My guy/gal is right and yours is wrong and that's the end of the story. The debates, in this context, might prove fascinating.
Obama made a statement: hands off the daughter! Families are not proper subjects for political discussion. Families are private.
