My parents often talked about how important the "fireside chats" of FDR were to their sense of hope during the years of the Depression. They felt relieved that somebody they trusted was in charge. And, in fact, times got better.
But where is Pres. Bush during our current crisis? Why isn't he talking to the nation, giving us hope? Or at least trying?
