A Sunday drive

Took a nice country drive, west of the city into Yamhill County, through farmland and recent wineries, through the towns of Yamhill and Carlton. The latter is a destination on the winery circuit, a small farm town converted to tasting rooms and restaurants, still more quaint than touristy but its days numbered, but right now pleasant and worth a visit. When I was at Oregon Business Magazine, I assigned the most comprehensive look at the Oregon wine industry ever done at that point, one of the magazine projects of which I'm especially proud. (Two others: my long interview with Gov. Tom McCall and a piece on Oregon fishermen selling their catch to Russian motherships.)
