Republicans

Some of my favorite politicians have been Republicans -- Wisconsin Senator Robert La Follette, who was such an influence on the young (and Republican) Wayne Morse of Oregon; Oregon governor Tom McCall (with whom I had the honor to spend a week for an in-depth interview for Oregon Business Magazine when I was Managing Editor there) -- but this progressive wing of the Republican Party has been pushed aside by the rise of the far right within the party. If the Republicans lose, maybe it will serve as incentive to bring the party back into balance. And if they win ...
