Mississippi Street Fair

Visited the fair today, which gets larger every year. Too large really. A few years ago, this had the charm of a neighborhood fair. It hasn't quite reached the corporate sprawl of all the riverfront festivals but it's getting there.

After an hour there, H and I realized we hadn't run into a single person we knew. A huge crowd -- and we knew nobody. We agreed that 20, 30 years ago, neither of us went anywhere without running into someone we knew. I suppose a lot of the friends from that era are dead, and the rest had the good sense to stay inside on a hot day. Ah, aging!
