My favorite hours of the day are 3-7 a.m., even though I typically am asleep during half of them. I love the quietness of early morning, the refreshing quality of sunrise. It's downhill after 7 in the morning.
There's a bright, very bright, planet in the southern sky this morning. Jupiter, I'd guess, but I'll have to check to be sure. Looks like Jupiter to me. Saturn and Mars are the only other possibilities but Saturn is more silvery and Mars more reddish than the golden Jupiter. (Google Sky tells me yes, it's Jupiter. Ah, my eye remembers from my youthful amateur astronomer days!)
5 a.m. Morning Edition on radio ... waiting for it and back to bed to listen.
