How does the far right take this? With sympathy? With criticism of the VP's parenting skills ("family values", abstinence and all that) that didn't sufficiently educate her daughter? If a Democratic candidate's unmarried daughter got pregnant, how would the far right respond? Far differently than they will now ha ha! Will this force the right to take a more rational attitude about sex education? Or will the VP lose backing? Or even gain backing? This all too, too bizarre. What Hollywood scriptwriter is creating this campaign? What the hell's next?
Palin says 17-year-old daughter is pregnant
ST. PAUL, Minn. - John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin said Monday that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is pregnant.
A statement released by the campaign said that Bristol Palin will keep her baby and marry the child's father.
"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents," Sarah and Todd Palin said in the brief statement.
