Perceiving death

How different we perceive 32 students killed on a college campus, which horrifies us, compared to 127 killed across Baghdad, which feels like another day in an unfortunate war. Us v. Them, maybe. Or Here v. There. Or Aberration v. the Commonplace (i.e. war). Interesting.
