POETRY — "Native Guard," by Natasha Trethewey (Houghton Mifflin).


GENERAL NONFICTION — "The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11," by Lawrence Wright (Alfred A. Knopf).


MUSIC — "Sound Grammar," by Ornette Coleman.
