The audacity of hope
In 3 days we'll know. If O doesn't win, great depression, of course ... but all the polls, all of them, have him winning by varying degrees, and they can't all be wrong. Can the election be stolen? Of course. It's happened before. So these are nervous days. And yet, if he wins, and especially if we wins decisively (I hope for a landslide), the country will have taken a step toward getting its soul back. The other day I talked to some black friends in L.A., and they never thought they'd see the country elect a black president. They're in their 70s and didn't expect to live long enough to see it. And yet this should happen. This should happen.
