What? what?

I'm listening to a radio interview with a poet who is bemoaning the emphasis of math and science in early education to the neglect of art and music. What!? What? I don't know what we're teaching our kids in elementary school but it sure isn't science because no one knows anything! Maybe we're trying and doing a terrible job of it. But science comes from curiosity, and when I was a kid studying science, it was great FUN. If taught right, science is irresistible because it takes advantage of and nurtures natural curiosity. As tests show, damn little science is taught in our schools, so quit blaming science, Mr. Poet. Science and poetry, in fact, have much in common. Both try to make connections.
