I believe in suicide -- as an individual act by someone who has rationally looked at the alternatives facing him or her. But something like this sucks, particularly taking the kid with them. The ultimate selfish act. I also don't trust suicide by pairs. Existential acts are made alone.
Oregon family of 3 dies in apparent murder-suicide; adults were members of the band Vertigo Butterfly
PORTLAND — A Portland couple and their 5-year-old daughter are dead of carbon monoxide poisoning after an apparent murder-suicide, police said Friday.
Authorities found a suicide note alongside the bodies of John and Luray Kuca, both 39, along with their daughter Ruby, in their Portland home Thursday night, with a hose from the exhaust pipe of a 1966 hearse leading into their sealed-off bedroom.
Family friend Todd Richards of Los Angeles told The Oregonian newspaper said he had got an e-mail Thursday evening from John Kuca, saying that his wife had cancer.
