Love for actors

An unexpected email came from an actor in my 1971 MFA thesis play at the University of Oregon. He found an article about the playmaking process, in which I am quoted:

"I am very much obliged. What if the worst of possibilities occurred and the play was a flop? What if someone in the audience threw a rotten egg? An actor would get hit, not the playwright. A writer has to admire courage . . . ." Charles Deemer, discussing the University Theatre production of his play, The Profession. Northwest Magazine, April 4, 1971."

One critic called the play "ponderous Pinter." A friend wrote a letter to the editor, correcting this rightly to "awkward Albee."
