Now and again I learn that skills honed in screenwriting can be applied far beyond writing for the screen. For example, a former student, who became a tech writer, once told me that the most useful course he ever took to help him write computer manuals was, yep, screenwriting! It taught him efficiency and focus and writing for folks who hate to read -- and filling the page with white space.
