Pasadena
I loved growing up in Pasadena, 1948-1958. So I love New Year's day to remind me of what still feels like my home town. We lived two blocks from the parade route, near its end where the floats were parked. We had fruit trees in the yard -- apricot, lemon, avacado. The sycamore tree in front of our house still stands but everything else was removed for the Foothill Freeway. The highlight of the parade was always Hopalong Cassidy or Monty Montana or Lash LaRue. Ah, sweet childhood memories. I even feel a little homesick.
Later, Oregon in the Rose Bowl! God I hope they wear traditional uniforms and don't prance out like a ballet troupe!
