Touching base
Had a pleasant reunion over coffee with Bob Hicks, senior critic at The Oregonian, who has been a drama critic in Portland for over twenty years. We talked about theater in the late 70s and 80s, about how Portland and indeed the culture has changed, and what has been lost as a result. Got some good quotable insights for my essay. And it was a real pleasure to visit with him, a critic I've long admired more than any in the city.
