Thara Memory stamps

Here's a worthy cause. I've written before about the jazz opera that Memory and I worked on briefly in the 80s. He mellowed out since those angry days and went on to great things.

It'd be hard to find someone in the Portland jazz community who's touched more people than trumpeter and educator Thara Memory, who has had recent health complications (including hospitalization and amputation) from diabetes.

His supporters organized the Thara Memory benefit/James Brown tribute a couple weeks ago to help with his medical costs, but for those who couldn't make it, there's another way to help: the "A Tribute to Thara Memory" postage stamps.

A sheet of 20 stamps costs $20; for more information, email info@americanmusicprogram.org.
