Theft mobile?

I think our van may have been in the process of being turned into a theft mobile. Here's the skinny.
  • The van looked fine from the outside. No plates, but no visible damage.
  • Three parking tickets. But the plates on the ticket were not ours.
  • Our plates were in the van -- and the interior seats were gone, the back of the van turned into a mechanical workshop. Dozens of tools left behind! Bolt cutters, fence cutters, big time tools.
  • The engine started -- but sounded terrible.
  • The van was found parked on Hayden Island, an industrial area.

So what's the story? Given all the tools, it appears that the van had been used for, or was about to be used for, theft activity. Maybe ripping off car stereos or something. But the abandoned tools suggest that something frightened the criminals and they fled. Why would anyone leave so many tools behind?

It looks like H will get her wish and the van will live again. Insurance folks have to do their thing now.

What a fascinating adventure the old van went on!
