Dufur does it!

Dufur is one of my favorite spots in Oregon. South of The Dalles, it's a farming community with rolling hills almost as spectacular as the Palouse country to the north in Washington and Idaho.

There's a farmhouse in Dufur that's been converted to a charming B&B but you can enjoy this area at less expense. Staying in The Dalles, another under-rated town, is one option. You can even camp nearby.

Dufur comes to mind today because their 8-man class 1-A football team just won the state championship! For a little town like Dufur, this is a very big deal.

This part of the country is the setting for my novel Emmett's Gift (synopsis). Indeed, Dufur was a model for much of the atmosphere in the novel.

Dufur history.
