This afternoon I met the high school girl I've been mentoring and had an hour taped interview. I was impressed with her. Intelligent questions, a careful listener -- and I already know she's a good playwright. Encouraging to see. I told her the truth about "the playwriting life," however, and didn't sugar-coat a bit. A few things surprised her.
