A lot has been made of the new Ipad's lack of a USB port or camera. Yet this doesn't seem to have hurt early sales. At first glance, however, it is a curious oversight -- or is it?
I think Steve Jobs knows what he is doing. I don't think he's challenging netbooks but rather is challenging Amazon's Kindle. I think the Ipad is designed for the incredibly lucrative future market of ebooks, at a time when students will download their textbooks as a matter of course. I think he left off the camera and the port in order to define the competition as clearly as possible, though later versions may well add these.
I have no need for one but I think this may be a stroke of genius in what first appear to be limitations.
