R.I.P.

Apparently my screenwriting software of choice, Sophocles, is dead, gone, out of business. Website dead for weeks now. Too bad. My students could get it for half price, hell of a deal. No more, I guess. I'll still use it, of course, for as long as it runs.

I heard that Sophocles may have been bought by a larger company, hopefully not to be swallowed up discarded. We can hope.

We have been discussing this issue on the Done Deal Pro screenwriting board, where I am an administrator ("ComicBent" on that board).

I have sent a letter to Tim Sheehan with a short form and SASE for him or someone to answer.

I hope to have an answer from him or someone by this weekend. If I find out anything, I will post something here.

Much appreciated, DP. I emailed Tim as well but have heard nothing back.

I got back into town today and was able to check my snail mail at the post office.

I have received no reply to the form/SASE that I mailed to Tim Sheehan a couple of weeks ago.

As much as I hate to say it, I think we can safely conclude that Sophocles is gone and is not coming back.

Frankly, this is a very strange and disappointing way for a widely used software program to disappear.

My advice to everyone at this point is to try to upgrade to Final Draft or Movie Magic Screenwriter. Good Microsoft Word templates are also available.

Can anyone please help export a .scp file for me to something that can be imported into final draft (rtf)?

This is a registered version of Sophocles, but it's been installed on a computer where the operating system had to be installed.

We don't know how to export it. Website registration for the new computer. Ai yi yi

slowkid, not sure what you're saying. So Soph won't run on the new operating system? Or just that you don't know how to export?

You export from the Print menu, Print-->Export

If you send me the S file, I'll export it as pdf and return it.
