If true, there are several possible explanations. One is that he loves his present job so much. Another is he is using this as leverage for a raise. Another is that Phil Knight bribed him. Another, in NFL circles, is that he was so greedy, asking for so much, that he was turned down and wouldn't compromise. I believe any of them except number one.
