Clawhammer fingernail

Playing banjo in prep for classes starting again next week, and it's going well. For the first time, I have a good index fingernail, which I grew in my relative absence from the instrument after the last class ended and I stopped playing daily. Time to grow the fingernail, which had been breaking frequently. Now I'm nervous about it, protective about it. But there are so many daily movements and chores that I do without thinking, any of which could damage the fingernail. Almost feel like wearing a glove on my right hand ha ha.
