The thrill is not gone

Even at my age, even being "semi-retired", I get a thrill when I write FADE OUT or THE END at the conclusion of the first draft of a project. This is a major transition, where the process doesn't feel like pulling teeth any more, where one can take time without fear of a fragile thought escaping, when one can scribble in red ink to the heart's content, improving and improving again the evolving manuscript.

Yes, even old men feel the thrill.

I'll print out the draft and begin to get early feedback. I'll take a break, very short to be sure, before I bring out the red pen.
