Our mayor presented his budget a while ago. Our police chief was upset. Cuts in her department would require laying off a couple dozen officers! She bitched in public. So the mayor fired her for insubordination.
Now, today, the mayor has come out with a REVISED budget and guess what? The cuts in the police department have disappeared! So the fired chief was right. Her mistake, apparently, was going public. So she gets fired, and the mayor eats crow and revises his budget so the police department is spared. Such is city politics.
