You never know what you think you know

The Penn State family is in shock because they "thought" they "knew" the nice coach who may, in fact, be a calculating pedophile. Welcome to reality. I've had my great shock of perception (see my short film Deconstructing Sally, the subtitle of which is "reflections on memory and hallucination") and you've no doubt had yours. They usually aren't as extreme as living next door to a serial killer or pedophile, but the hard lesson is that friendship, like so many things, is a leap of faith and faith sometimes gets betrayed. No, I'd say it often gets betrayed: look at the divorce rate. Fidelity gets betrayed half the time. This is the world we live in.

If you have any blessings, thank the gods.
