No Love For November, Sports' Drama-Free Month : NPR:
Frank DeFord nails it at the end of this audio story. Sports events butcher the national anthem and God Bless America so much, someone should write a movie claiming that Francis Scott Key and Irving Berlin did not write them!
DeFord's novel Casey on the Loose, a whimsical tale about the writing of "Casey at the Bat," may be the funniest baseball novel ever written. Out of print, you can pick up a hard copy at Amazon for a penny! Highly recommended. Not sure why it didn't do well.
