What I Did (poem)

What I Did

when my wife, my soul mate, told me
she was a lesbian
I didn't give her a hug
I didn't send her flowers
I didn't take her to dinner
I didn't call her my Valentine

I didn't throw a party
I didn't dance a jig
I didn't sing a song
I didn't pop open the champagne
I didn't serve the caviar

what I did is
get out of Dodge
before I killed someone
