"The race was set-up for recent Oregon grad Galen Rupp — who was 13th at the 2008 Beijing Olympics — to challenge the aging record. And Rupp had his own pacer. But the 25-year-old Solinsky took the lead away from Rupp with 700 meters to go, running the final two laps in 60 and 56.2 seconds, respectively (calling upon his 3:37 'speed' in the 1,500 meters).
'Obviously tonight would not have happened if not for Galen and his rabbit,' said Solinsky. 'I never chase times.'"
