Method to his madness?

While most progressive ideologues are going ape over Obama's oil drilling decision, a few see it as a brilliant political maneuver than will stymie the GOP and lead to sound energy/global warming policies ahead. That is, the President has accepted now that he can do NOTHING to appease the Republicans, he will face No from them no matter what he does. So he is not trying to win favor as most think but taking the weapons out of their hand before they've even had to play them -- he is looking long run, not short run, and it will take years of studies before anything happens anyway: Obama is looking at long range policy and short range political rhetorical battles, say a minority of progressive analysts. And I tend to agree with them. We have a very bright President. I wouldn't sell him short. He is up to something. He is up to something.
