Good but imperfect news

Eureka! I found my AlphaSmart cable. In a hidden pocket in the case. Wrote on AS and easily transferred to netbook. However, then the netbook keyboard was configured differently. Aha, I remember this happening before. I did a Restart to yesterday and all is fixed. But a hassle. Be nice to find a quicker fix. On PC you are advised to disconnect keyboard before xfer ... on netbook I could disable the drivers but this makes me very very nervous. A restore only took ten minutes. So it's not the end of the world.
