Early morning dream/fantasy

The Occupy movement finally gets its act together and calls a political convention early in 2012 to form the new Occupy America party. It's well attended with delegates from every state. National and local candidates are elected for many offices. Then a shock and surprise: Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren show up! They are elected the national ticket on the first ballot.

Our new President

OA kicks into gear, fund raising and getting new members for the party. The energy they previously had for occupying public spaces and marching is trebled for this. The party grows quickly -- and is a force to be reckoned with by November 2012. Where they can't get on the ballot, energetic write in campaigns are made. Election results: Obama-Biden 40%, Sanders-Warren 30%, Gingrich-Cain 25%, with the electoral college split the same way. No one gets elected -- so now it goes to the House to elect the president.

Our new Vice-President

There is no movement whatever in a deadlocked House until a miracle happens: Obana releases his delegates and joins the Occupy America party! Most delegates go with him, and Sanders-Warren are elected.

But Congress is still deadlocked. How can anything get done?

The new administration forms its cabinet, keeping Hillary Clinton as Sec of State, Obama going to the U.N., and creating a new position, Bill Clinton as Director of Public Works. The new administration faces the impotent Congress by ruling by executive order, each of which gets challenged in court by Republicans, but meanwhile each order is executed. The law moves slowly, so things get done despite Republican opposition.

Under Bill Clinton's direction, 100s of thousands go to work to repair the country's infrastructure. The workers are paid in a new script, Loyalty Stamps, and the administration cuts a deal to have these stamps accepted at Wal Mart and other big stores across the nation. Loyalty Stamps become more valuable than money. Posters go up in windows: I Am A Proud American Who Uses Loyalty Stamps. Republicans are outraged but the new system gains popularity as more and more people go to work.

And more and more join the Occupy America party. It looks like they have a shot at controlling both houses of Congress in the midterm elections of 2014. The economy has turned around, more and more businesses accept the Loyalty Stamps, some even preferring them to dollars. Sanders announces bold new progressive changes after OA controls Congress after the election.

Several weeks before the midterm election, between 10 a.m. and noon Eastern time, Sanders, Warren, both Clintons, Obama, and three other OA politicians are assassinated all across the country. 6 of the 8 assassins are captured, all of them in turn dying in jail under mysterious circumstances. Months later an official report will call the assassins "crazed loners" and the series of assassinations "one of those incredible coincidences that sometimes happens."

Riots begin right after the assassinations. The new President, a Republican, the former Speaker of the House, declares martial law. Riots increase. Finally 3 different activated National Guards fire on and kill citizens in different states. The situation is so intense that the new President agrees to step down, replaced by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who create temporary military control of the government.

And then ... I had to get up to pee and the dream/fantasy ended.
