Reading for pleasure

I've done precious little reading for pleasure in my lifetime, a consequence of a long obsessive career writing. The reading I did was related to work in some way, research or student writing. Now that I am semi-retired, I find myself with time to read for the sheer pleasure of it, and I'm enjoying the experience immensely. This is not "escape reading." I can't read remember the last "best seller" I read in fiction. Probably The Hundred Dollar Misunderstanding decades ago! Even reading for pleasure, I read books that relate to various concerns and interests, serious books. Presently, for example, I'm reading a lot of American history, Howard Zinn, Daniel Boorstin, Gordon Wood. It's nice to read without having to make particular use of it.
