Gave myself a musical exercise this afternoon and am very excited that I got through it. Now this is pretty elementary stuff, but you have to start somewhere.
I put together a little tune that sounded good to me and transcribed it. The first challenge was to figure out what key it was in ... Bbm. I never could have deduced this six months ago.
Then I wrote a chord progression for the 4-bar tune: Bbm Fm7 Gb Bbm7 Ebm Dbm Gbm Fm7.
It sounds good to me -- and it's astounding I figured out something that works. This must mean progress. That's a big step for me. No, a huge step.
