Amazon spreads its wings

Amazon has a new subsidiary, Create Space, which is in direct competition with Lulu.com as a free production and distribution tool/center for print-on-demand self-publishing, with the automatic advantage of being included in the large Amazon inventory. These POD wars are interesting to watch, especially considering that it wasn't too long ago when few took this new technology seriously. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes the main mode for all but pop lit. It just makes sense.
