Saw the Handel opera this afternoon. Some beautiful music, an extraordinary set, good performances -- but I never really got into it. Baroque opera, baroque anything, is not a style I'm readily attracted to. After I see an opera like Mahagonny, I feel like I've had a nervous breakdown. Nothing emotional like that in my reaction to this opera.
