Mahagonny

My favorite opera, The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, is rarely produced. In twenty years, 1995-2015, only 3 productions in the U.S., according to Opera America: NY in 1995, Chicago in 1998, and LA in 2007, which I saw. I thought I'd never get to see it, so when I learned it was being done, I made sure I got there. But it looks like I'll never see it live again. At least I saw it once. I'm lucky. (I know a woman who's been trying to get it done in Portland for years without luck.)
