While this was under construction in the mid-80s, I (and other writers who knew the owners) was allowed to stay there, rent free. The idea was, and a noble one it was, free rent at the beach for writers! so they can get some work done. Alas, I only lasted a few days. During the day, the construction noise was unbearable and at night, the sound of critters (rats?) scurrying about was distracting. I wimped out and returned to the city.
