The marriage controversy

What is marriage? Bertrand Russell had the best definition over a century ago in a book that got him banned from the U.S. In Marriage and Morals, he argues that the institution of marriage exists to raise children. Period. Therefore a man and woman can only marry if the woman is pregnant! I would add that any couple can marry with adoption papers. But the emphasis on raising kids is the key. I can already hear the howling from the right and the Christian community. Russell was far ahead of the majority of us.
