On one extreme we have the USA basketball team, which shouldn't even be there, arrogantly beating Nigeria by 80 points and celebrating as if this demonstrates something worthy, and on the other the bubbly teenage swimmer Missy Franklin, who sets a world record, shows off her new driver's license as happily as her gold medals, and can't wait to return to Colorado so she can be a high school senior and wear coveralls to football games, as is the tradition.
