LA's Griffith Planetarium opens, only the third in the U.S. Famous scene there in Rebel Without A Cause. My dad would take me as a kid, then fall asleep during the show and start snoring. But he'd stop with a nudge. I loved going there, amateur astronomer that I was in my youth.
