Here is a gem, friends, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and Oregon banjo picker Derrol Adams, who got popular in England before Jack started recording for Prestige here. This is my favorite country song with a political message. Note they spell Jack's name wrong on the album cover! He never forgot that.
(I spent several days with him in the 80s when he was stranded here. I arranged a quick concert at Earth Tavern and I interviewed him for WW. A terrific experience. My best concert ever, helping him set up at Earth, afternoon before they open, mic checks etc, and then he said: What do you want to hear? and I had a private Ramblin' Jack Elliott concert for about half an hour as he played one request after another. Amazing experience!)
