The adventure begins, in which I get to experience the university in daytime. What a concept.
I already can feel the change in routine and need to adjust some things, like when I eat. I forgot I was leaving in the morning when in the past I could tie together loose ends for class in a leisurely way. This morning I was dashing around in a panic and never made breakfast. So the change is, well, a change. After 14 years of the same routine, after all, I was rather on automatic pilot ha ha.
Always curious what the new class looks like -- and now especially to see if I have fewer older students, which makes sense. Older students might be at work. That would be a disadvantage if true.
I am astounded how easy it is to put up a Kindle blog. At 99 cents a month to subscribe, I actually could make some coffee change on this if I do a good job and word gets out. That would be really nice. We'll see what happens.
I was greeted in the hallway today by the professor who hired me those 14 years ago. He was chair of the department then, and I was recommended by another professor who was learning screenwriting from the website I had back then, "The Playwrights and Screenwriters Home Page" (one author said it deserved an Oscar). They wanted to start a screenwriting program and I was both local and a natural fit -- oh yes, I also had an MFA, which cinched the deal. Otherwise they had to take a different path to hire me as a non-academic professional or something. So the MFA actually paid off ha ha!
Well, time to relax and get the head on right for teaching. My office hours are after class. I shall return.
